Case study of two hospitals: strategies, structure, organizational skills and financial performance

INTRODUCTION: Organizational performance is very important and this should be related to mainly economic results. For a healthcare organization, an hospital, it should also be a reality. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the management of two hospitals in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, studying the application of the strategy concepts, structure and organizational skills and relate them with the financial result. METHODOLOGY: Survey of quantitative-qualitative, descriptive cross-sectional field. Facts and phenomena occurring in the process of managing these hospitals through publications in magazines and websites of the institutions surveyed, and structured interview, considering the validation of data and perceptions of CEOs on the topic studied. RESULTS: For both hospitals were developed indicators related to organizational competence and to the financial results in order to stablish correlation and a comparison between them. CONCLUSION: A better alignment and consistency competition between the strategies, structures and skills, will cause a bigger financial performance of the hospital.
