Abstract

This article aims to discuss aspects of the cost of drugs used in hospitals undergraduates. The difficult financial situation of these entities has become a pressing need for useful information to decision-making. Through a case study in the Clinical Hospital of Federal University of Uberlandia (HCU) sought to determine whether there were significant differences between the purchase prices of medicines made by the Foundation for Research and Education Assistance Uberlândia (FAEPU) funding institution HCC and price quotations in the present Stock Prices in the Ministry of Health (BPS). It was found that while the HCU has serious difficulties in negotiating with suppliers because of their lack of working capital and high borrowings, purchases made in the first half of 2006 were on average 9.3% below the prices found the BPS.
