Pharmaceutical assistance and the chronic disease managemen

Abstract

Pharmaceutical assistance, especially when associated with disease management, is related to improved health and quality of life of people affected by chronic conditions. Moreover, evidence suggests that it may contribute to reducing the use of health services and costs. Although the coverage is non mandatory in the private Brazilian market, facilitate the access to drugs for the treatment of chronic diseases may be a viable alternative for the health plans in the fight against the constant exacerbation of assistance costs.
